The Mystical Body
Date: January 25, 2016
Time: 7:00 PM
Venue: Ayala Center, The Terraces
Performers: University of San Jose – Recoletos (USJ-R)
This first religious-cultural presentation, done by the University of San Jose-Recoletos and under the direction of its erstwhile cultural director Dr. Milagros Espina, will traverse the different dimensions of the Mystical Body of Christ, comprising of the Church triumphant, the Church militant, and the Church suffering. This show will uncover the deep truths of the Catholic belief, through images and music, songs and dances, about the presence of the angels and saints in heaven and the souls in purgatory, and the spiritual struggle which we continue to confront while still living on earth. With the Holy Mass as the background of the show, the interfacing of the three dimensions will be shown in the portrayal of the seven (7) corporal works of mercy mentioned in the gospel. With the sense of mission inherent in the Eucharist, we continue to ask for forgiveness (Kyrie) for our failure to do the divine instructions and begin to give thanks in the Gloria, as we re-commit to performing the corporal works of mercy in order to live with the saints and help save the souls in purgatory. Free admission.
